SCAT Ducting
SCAT ducting and tubing are used in the aerospace industry for a variety of high-temperature applications. Made with copper or bronze-coated helices and covered with woven fiberglass impregnated with red silicone rubber, SCAT tubes are lightweight, flexible, and highly durable. Recommended for applications with extreme temperatures (from -65°F to +550°F), SCAT ducting is available in short lengths to minimize waste.
Herber Aircraft supplies high-quality SCAT ducting and tubes for aviation applications. For product availability and custom solutions, contact us today, and a team member will happily assist you.
Features of Aerospace SCAT Tubing
SCAT ducting is lightweight and flexible. These tubes feature a copper-coated or bronze-plated spring steel wire helix for support, a woven fiberglass fabric cover impregnated with silicone rubber, and a fiberglass cord coated with silicone. Additional features of SCAT tubes include:- Operating temperatures between -65°F to +550°F
- Sections can be joined to form longer lengths
- Standard length of 11 feet
Benefits of SCAT Ducting
There are several advantages of using SCAT ducting for aerospace applications:- Short lengths: Minimizes waste
- Lightweight build: Reduces bulk and saves space
- High temperature tolerance: Can withstand harsh aviation environments
- Excellent flexibility: For complex or tight installations
Uses and Applications of SCAT Tubes
While SCAT ducting is primarily used for aircraft and aerospace operations, these tubes can also be used for:- Removing hot air in ceramic kilns
- Heating in aircraft or helicopter cockpits
- Air and ventilation systems on boats
- Cable protection in hot electronic systems
- Insulation for pipe systems
