Tribute to our Founder, Bruce Herber
Dear Aerospace Colleague(s),
It is with great sorrow that I inform you of the sudden and unexpected passing of our company's Founder, my father, Bruce Herber. He passed peacefully in his sleep and while we are very sad, it is a comfort to us that he did not suffer.
Bruce was a great leader, colleague, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He was a very generous person, giving of himself to the Aerospace Industry, communities, and many people in his life. He enjoyed riding horses, flying airplanes, driving fast cars, barbecuing for staff at Herber Aircraft, and spending time with friends and family, especially his 3 grandkids.
Bruce lived life fully and enjoyed his passions to his last day.
Bruce founded Herber Aircraft Service, Inc., in 1978, with minimal funding and a desire to make high quality Aerospace Products, focusing on hoses. The company saw quick growth and, in 1981, became a distributor for the Aeroquip product line. In 1982, he started work on the repair of EGT wire harnesses on JT8 commercial engines, then moved into PMA of EGT harnesses for various commercial engines. In the late 1990s Herber Aircraft became a distributor for the LORD product line. Herber Aircraft also acquired ACS (a PMA company) in 2012. Bruce navigated many changes including consolidation, acquisitions of both LORD and Aeroquip, 9/11, the 2008 crash, and COVID-19. Through these changes, Herber Aircraft stayed strong and continued its rapid growth, while maintaining their private ownership.
While I grew up around the company my whole life, I did not start working at Herber Aircraft until the 1990s. In 2004, I assumed management of various departments throughout the company. I moved into ownership in 2012, and then into my current President's role in 2016. During this transition, Bruce was a great mentor and we worked closely together to grow the company.
Succession planning for Herber Aircraft was at the forefront of our strategy for many years, to ensure the company's continued success during times of tragedy like this. As such, I want to assure everyone that the company will move ahead with strength and commitment to our values.
Thank you for the support and business you entrust with Herber Aircraft Service and our staff. I am honored to maintain the great legacy Bruce started with superior quality products and the best in customer service.
